Privacy Policy
Effective July 21, 2026
What we collect
Account holders: your name, email, phone number, chosen language, and a hashed (unreadable) version of your password. People you chat with through a link don't need an account — for them we store only the name you gave the chat and the messages exchanged. If you turn on notifications, we store the technical subscription your browser provides.
How messages are used
Messages are stored to deliver them and show your history. To translate a message, its text is sent to our AI provider (Anthropic) and the translation is stored alongside the original. We don't sell your data, we don't show ads, and humans at Dula don't read your conversations except if needed to investigate abuse or fix a problem you report.
Who can see what
A 1-on-1 chat is visible to you and whoever has its link. A group is visible to its members, who can also see each other's names, Dula IDs, and reading languages. Your phone number is never shown to other users.
Where data lives
Data is stored on our hosting provider (Railway) in the United States, over encrypted connections (HTTPS).
Deleting your data
Deleting a chat removes its messages and disables its link. To delete your whole account and its data, email us at [email protected] and we'll take care of it.
Changes
If this policy changes meaningfully, we'll update the date above and note it in the app. See also our Terms of Service.
